William Main was one of the foremost collectors of New Zealand postcards and photographs together with Victorian amusements, lantern slides, gramophones and more.
Photographic prints include work by New Zealand photographers such as Roland James Searle and the Burton Brothers of Dunedin. Subjects of the images range from early Wellington Landscapes, NZ and Australian Military, Māori Portraits and Marae, and much more.
