THE BOB GARRETT ESTATE COLLECTION

ROBERT HOWARD GARRETT (B September 1939 - D September 2016)

Bob Garrett, born in 1939, was originally from Dunedin but lived in Wellington since the mid 1950's. He had a lifelong interest in antiques, curios and collectibles and was a regular at Dunbar Sloane auctions for the best part of fifty years.

A self-employed electrician by trade, Bob was fascinated with science, the secrets of the universe and the measurement of time. He had an extensive and beautifully displayed collection of early electrical equipment including WW1 radio apparatus, antique lighting and scientific instruments.

Bob had a had a particular interest in clocks, watching making tools and lathes, telescopes, model engineering and antique electrical equipment.

Bob was well known among the local community and wider Wellington collectors and traders. He passed away in September 2016 and is survived by his three daughters Jo, Deborah and Siobhan and his four grandchildren.
