T85. LATE 19TH C. MAORI FOOD BOWL (KUMETE). Two stone carved Maori figures holding the bowl, tiki faces are carved on either side of the bowl and there are four tiki faces on the lid all with paua shell inset eyes. The kumete has rauru (an elliptical centre and the spirals are formed of triple ridges separated by a beaded line) double spirals all over. H. 33cm, W. 47cm. Est. $10,000-30,000
